Since yoga is so good for you, why aren't more young athletes doing yoga?Younger athletes may find Yoga too slow and relaxing to make them want to do it on a regular basis. It is about deep breathing and finding your physical and mental peace, and the major skill is flexibility.
For some, this may be a good sport, but they would probably prefer a sport that built core, arm and leg muscles. Pilates would probably be better, because it uses some of the key points of yoga (slow movements) and gives you a harder workout.
