Muscles are killing me.. can i still do yoga?

Muscles are killing me.. can i still do yoga?i guess you should see how you feel when it gets closer to when your leaving. make sure you rest and stuff : )Yes go do yoga as long as it is a strechting focused yoga not a muscular type. The strechting will get blood flowing back into the muscles which brings the oxygen and protien that they need for growth. As far as the soreness if your new to this perticular workout or this intensity of said workout then it is normal and will fade over time. If this is an on going problem (8-10 workouts for that body part) then you should consider toning it down a little. Also personal trainers at a local gym aren't that expensive.Doing yoga might actually help with your soreness. You should continue to stretch and move even though it hurts. (It actually make it better). To get you feeling better faster, you can take a hot bath, and rub a cream like Aspercreme on the muscles that are sore.Doing yoga tonight will probably help your muscles heal just as long as it is not too intense. Make sure your not doing body resistence on those sore muscles. If your not then your OK. When you work a specific muscle group you need to provide them with as much time as they need to recover until they are not sore anymore, so there is no set time until you can lift weights again. If you work the same muscle group without ample rest you could really weaken those muscles. If you want to lesssen the soreness after a workout you have to stretch right after your workout. The only other things that lessen soreness are a heating pad and rest. If you want to recover faster you can take a quick shot of protien and sugar as the sugar releases insulin which helps deliver the protein to your muscles.

I hope I helped! Best of luckIt sounds like you overworked your muscles. the soreness is injury. You should never work out to the point that you can barely move. It's one thing to be really sore and to be able to walk it out, but when you are so sore you can hardly move, and moving doesn't make it feel any better, you've overdone it. I would skip the yoga class, your muscles need to heal. You may have to give yourself a few days to heal, and then try not to overdo it so much. It's counterproductive, as you have discovered.
To help lessen your muscle soreness, make sure you are drinking plenty of water. I mean lots, at least 8 or 10 cups a day at minimum. Take vitamin C, it helps carry away the lactic acid released by the muscles, which is a huge source of your pain, along with the tears in the muscle fiber. The tiny tears in muscle fiber are what help us build muscle, as they heal and build more blood vessels and muscle tissue.
Another sore muscle remedy is a nice hot bath with 1/2 cup of Epsom Salts dissolved in it. Soak for a good 15 or 20 minutes. This is best done after your workout before the real muscle pain starts in, and again the next day to help relieve any soreness or stiffness that is still extant.

If you were to go to yoga, or do any other exercise while you are so extremely sore, you could injure yourself.
Listen to your body, and do what you think is best.
