Is Yoga geared towards weigth loss, or is it strictly for balance, strength and flexiblity?Yoga consists of thousands of exercises/poses. There are exercises specifically designed to reduce obesity (especially Kapalbhati pranayama), and there are other exercises designed to simulate, energize, correct other aspects of your physique, metabolism , or health.Yoga is good for flexibility, exercise, balance, and weight loss, but is also practiced as a form of meditation and relaxation. Most of the people I know who do yoga, do it mostly for the physical benifits. But I also hear from others that there is an enlightenment of a spiritual sense that comes from this practice. I guess then, it is what you make of it!Yes Yoga is certainly the best thing. check out nearby yoga center and join that one..Yoga can help you alter your dieting habits, so that is probably the main way it can help you lose weight, however it does little to give you a cardio workout, as it is not considered to be an aerobic exercise by doctors.
My advice is balance yoga with moderate, exercise like jogging, and some more intense ones like rowing or cycling.Yoga is the art of finding yourself... an ancient spiritual practices originated in India, where it remains a vibrant living tradition and is seen as a means to enlightenment.
