What materials do yoga mat safest, rubber or foam?

What materials do yoga mat safest, rubber or foam?rubber,i think,is this Yago mat?Most Yago lover like to use rubber Yago mat,not slip and light weight~rubber and foam together~I don't think one is necessarily better than the other but as far as safety is concerned I would surly go with a thicker mat. I bought my yoga mat at HomeSense on sale for $ 20 and it's close to 1 inch thick.

I do yoga at home as well and on the hardwood floor I find the thicker mat much more comfortable. My girlfriend has a a very thin pro yoga mat that was actually pretty expensive close to $ 70 but in some positions it doesn't have enough cushion for my joints at least it feels that way when we use it on the hardwood.

BTW check out youtube for all kinds of free yoga classes for all levels its a great resource for keeping things fresh.
