Is this an effective exercise?

Is this an effective exercise?been using my core ball for a computer chair since January
can you balance on it with your feet off floor yet?It couldn't hurt unless you fell off the ball.it is good exercise, you're keeping your balance using your abs by bouncing you're using your thighs and calfs, my trainer told me to watch tv and sit at the computer on my yoga ball that way i'm keeping tone without thinking about itIn theory you would burn more cals. sitting and bouncing on the ball instead of sitting on a chair. The bouncing up and down would be good for your legs and calfs, but just sitting on the ball and moving even just a little bit would be working your core muscles, your base muscles, the stomach muscles. You might not be burning a bunch of calories, but you will be exercising you core muscles. And it is a great workout when you sit on the ball and do basic situps or use dumbbells.I lost over 200 pounds and my MD and I used to have some very candid conversations about exercise and diet.

I once asked him what was the best exercise equipment or exercise.

His answer was, "the one that you will do."

Basically there are many devices out there and many that work but none will help if they are sitting in you garage.

Just keep moving and keep that metabolism up, don't skip meals. Metabolism is the process of digestion and the rate that takes place. Metabolism can't start if digestion doesn't take place.

I always say wiggle why you walk and giggle while you talk. Even things like shifting your weight from one foot to the other while brushing you teeth, or holding you stomach in while standing in line at the market can burn just a few extra calories and keep the circulation moving.

Also have lots of choices to keep from getting bored, I have a treadmill (dredmill) hand weights, stability ball, swimming pool etc.

Relieving Back Pain Through The Stability Ball Chair

Article by Spencer Davis

Exercise while sitting! Wouldn't that be the dream? Well it's possible. With the increase in popularity of the yoga ball, individuals are discovering new and ingenious methods to make use of it to enhance their bodies. The newest concept is utilizing it as a stability ball chair also known as the yoga ball chair. As you sit on top of the ball, it strengthens your body's core muscles. Sounds simple? We it is. Now you are most likely questioning how it works and if this type of chair can actually work to your benefit.

The way in which the stability ball chair works is through active sitting. With a traditional chair, individuals usually hunch over and have poor posture. As a result, these people develop bad sitting habits. Alternatively, when you use a stability ball chair, because of active sitting, the body is forced to constantly make minor corrections to the sitting position so as to keep correct posture. In doing so the ball causes you to make use of your abs, legs muscles, back muscles, and glutes.

Most people find that using this type of chair helps with the back pain associated with sitting in a traditional chair for long periods of time. Some even find that their back problems go away as your body naturally finds its correct sitting position.

While these same people find benefit in using a stability ball chair or yoga ball chair, it does take some time to get used to it. Easing into using the chair is preferable - meaning try sitting on it for short periods of time (a couple of hours) and gradually work up to sitting on the chair for longer periods of time (the whole day). In time, your body will become accustomed to the constant workout.

Another thing that most people find after getting adjusted to the chair is that its fun to use. If you end up bored at work at work, bounce up and down on it. If you are prone to spontaneous workouts, the ball can be used to do quick ab exercises. If you check online, you can find plenty of uses for the ball.

A word of warning: the stability ball chair is not something for everybody, mainly older adults. Younger people can more easily adapt to the constant workout. It is always advised that anyone looking to put extra strain on the body (including using a yoga ball as a chair) first consult a health care practitioner.
