Does yoga help for weight loss or is it only for strenghtening and stress relief?

Does yoga help for weight loss or is it only for strenghtening and stress relief?combine yoga with excercise no doubt but yoga alone does prevent weight "gain." Afterall stress is a major cause of weight gain. Yoga helps keep you flexible and fit.Yoga does not promote weight loss. It does help with stretching muscles so as to prevent injuries while exercising but it is not intensive enough to burn any calories or to build muscle. It is for mind relaxing and mind focusing technique. It help organize energies in a way where person becomes more tuned with addressing day to day affairs with more calm and leanrd how to respond verses reacting to any situation. This is universal idea. In all religions in the world this particular idea is already built in. However, due to lack of deep knowledge of everyone's (birth) religion due to investing too much time to other life activities, most people have not found these qualities therefore they find in this and other activities of this type. Some may find the benefit of this service in heavy excercise (cardio vescular) Tennis, jogging, etc, or long brisk walks or hiking in the woods. By the way, regardless what your religion back ground, if you look into old ancient history, even before Budha, 5000 years, back, it was the practice of great old time prophets to travel, walk and ponder and thereby they taught peace and tranquility.

Truth should always be simple and attainable by anyone at any age and any time.

Hope this helps.

peace unto you.......!It doesn't help much on weight loss. You will find lots of useful information from this site:
