In yoga health, what is this so-called Therapeutic Yoga and its essentials? How is this done?Therapeutic Yoga is essentially a health system of self-treatment. According to yoga view, diseases, disorders and sicknesses are the result of defective ways of living, bad habits, lack of proper knowledge of things in relation to the individual's life, and improper food. The diseases are the result of a state of a short or continuous malfunctioning of the body system. This malfunction is caused by an imbalanced internal condition, created due to certain errors of the individuals.

Since the root cause of a disease lies in the mistakes of the individual, its cure also lies in the corrections of those mistakes by the same individual. In other words, it is the individual himself who is responsible in both cases; that is, for causing as well as for curing the disease.

This is the basic assumption of Therapeutic Yoga about the nature of the trouble and its remedy, thus there is total reliance on the effort of the patient himself. The yoga guru shows only the path and works no more than as a guide to the patient.

For a workout that doesn't require much clothing (some have known to perform hot Bikram yoga in nothing more than teeny tiny shorts), it certainly can entail a lot of equipment. If one is planning to take up yoga, he or she should be prepared to use an array of yoga stuff.

Most studios or gyms will have much of the yoga stuff one would need, but some people prefer to bring their own. The most obvious piece of equipment is a mat. Available in different materials (including eco-friendly substances such as bamboo), colors, thicknesses and degrees of stickiness, a yoga mat is a must have. There are also carriers, straps and slings that can be bought for transporting a mat.

Straps are another piece of equipment. Often made of cotton or hemp, straps help practitioners to hold positions longer and reach more difficult poses.

Also falling into the category of yoga stuff are yoga blocks. Usually made of foam, blocks allow one to modify poses and can be used in a variety of ways to help achieve positions and proper alignment.

Most people prefer to practice yoga barefoot, but there are retailers that sell special socks and gloves with non-slip grips. These can be used instead of a mat and helps with balance.

Thick knit yoga blankets are often used at the end of a class in the final relaxation pose. Some instructors will also burn incense at this time or gently apply essential mint or lavender oil to students to promote relaxation.

And of course, when discussing yoga stuff, one can't forget yoga attire. While there isn't a set uniform, there are a number of brands that cater to yoga students. Many people who practice yoga choose to wear breathable clothing and styles that hug the body for maximum movement.
